Special Education 

The Stevenson-Carson School District provides all special education and related services through the Educational Service District 112 (See ESA website for additional information at http://web3.esd112.org/specialized-services-birth-21/special-education-esa).  Special education is provided for students with an active Individualized Education Plan (IEP) with an identified disability.  Special education includes services such as specialized academic instruction, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, nursing, and transportation as appropriate.  Services are provided for students from 3 to 21 years of age who qualify. 

            In order to qualify for special education, students must be assessed by the school psychologist after the school has attempted a series of interventions.  The team will determine if your child has a disabling condition under the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA) such as Specific Learning Disability (dyslexia), Intellectual Disability, Autism, etc.  If your child is having difficulties in school due and you believe it is due to a permanent disability, please contact your school site’s principal to set up a pre-referral meeting.

  • 3 Middle/High School Special Education Teachers

  • 1 Preschool Teacher

  • 12 Para-educators

  • 2.75 Speech Therapists

  • .8 School Psychologist

  • Occupational Therapist

  • Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant

  • Physical Therapist

  • Assistant Director, Special Education
