School Closure

Stevenson-Carson School District Closure
Posted on 03/13/2020

Announcement of mandatory school closure-

Like many of you, we heard Governor Inslee’s announcement of a mandatory shut down until at least April 24th. We will begin this shut down at the end of today, Friday, March 13th. The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction continues to provide district guidance. Currently, we know that most state testing has been canceled this year, the last day of school will not be past June 19th, and providing a way for seniors to graduate on time has been given top priority.

If you have a senior student that is on track to graduate, we will keep them on that track! Our high school counselors will spend time looking at transcripts, credits, and their currently enrolled classes and will reach out to you next week to create a plan. The next steps will be to address our junior students needs.

The district is prepared to provide breakfast and lunch for students beginning on Monday. We will serve Monday – Friday. We are partnering with Stevenson-Carson Educational Foundation to supplement these meals, occasionally with additional items beyond what a federally funded lunch program can provide. These meals will be delivered via our school bus routes or available for pickup at our schools between 10 and 12 p.m. Please watch your e-mail and Facebook for additional information and an opportunity to sign up for free food for ALL children.

As a first priority, if you work in the medical field or are a first responder and are unable to arrange childcare, please e-mail me (Karen Douglass [email protected]) the details of your needs and the school district will see if there is some way we can support you. Other childcare needs may be considered.

Additional information will come soon via our website, e-mail, and Facebook pages. Thank you for your patience during this unprecedented event. Please take care of yourself, wash your hands, and practice keeping plenty of space between you and the next person.

Karen Douglass
Superintendent
